Got back down to my property on Thursday to check out the changes I made to the Omega (new DNZ mount and SI 3-9×40 scope). Last time out I couldn't get it to group and think I had scope issues. This time out I used 100grn/v of Tripe Seven FFFG and a 300grn 44 cal Nosler JHP in a green CR sabot. Targets were again at 60yds for shooting. Much better results this time and I'll be sticking with this bullet for future development. Average MV was 1808 fps.

Next up was a 50 cal Traditions Buckstalker with a 24in cerakote barrel using a 300 grn Scorpion PT in a black CR Sabot over 100 grn/v of 777 FFFG. This gun has a Redfield 2 -7x bought when Leupold owned the brand. Shots with the Scorpion were grouping over 2 inches, so I shifted to a 44 cal 275grn Fury LT bullet in a green CR sabot. I don't think he sells this weight anymore in a 44 cal but I had a bag of 100 so I sent some down range using the same powder charge and they produced a nice tight group about an inch above my aiming point; I'll likely stick with them. The Furys had an average MV of 1803 fps while the Scorpion PT averaged 1744 fps.

Also brought my stainless 50 cal MR-X and one of the 50cal Optima V2 pistols (same one as last week). The MR-X hadn't been shot before and it has a Variflame adapter breechplug to use large rifle primers rather than the 209's. Powder load in the MR-X was 110 grn/v of 777 FFG and I used the 325 grn Powerbelt ELR and the Hornady 340 grn ELD-X. Both of these bullets did fantastic, making a large hole in the target. Even at 110 grns of 777, the crud ring was pretty soft and I could get 3 shots off before swabbing; I think this was attributable to the LRP. Five shots of each bullet, MV of the 325grn ELR was 1729 fps and 1704 for the Hornady. Standard deviation for the Powerbelt was 13.3 and for the Hornady, a whopping 1.7! Based on these results, I'll most likely be using the Hornady this fall. Very impressed with this MR-X, the bore is free of miscellaneous tooling marks and consistent.

That's the key with the pistols. Shoot as often as you can.

That's a nice looking gun cabinet. Don't see them around very much anymore. I used to have a nice one with drawers underneath. Ex-wife got it in our divorce 20yrs ago.

I was looking in my gun safe yesterday and took out my TC Hawkins I purchased awhile ago and decided to disassemble it and give it a new face lift and finished it up this morning . these are the before and after pictures ,I thought it turned out pretty good .
