I have had pretty good luck killing deer wit a 300 grain XTP MAG bullet, but was curious as to the difference between it and a regular XTP.

If what I have heard is true the lead is harder in the mag so it will hold together at a higher velocity.

The 300 grain XTP Mag bullet has a thicker jacket than the 300 grain XTP. The jacket is also crimped into the hollow point cavity of the bullet.

The 300 grain .452 XTP Mag bullet is the one on the right.

far left, 250gr XTP, 240gr XTP Mag. The 300gr versions are identical in construction, just longer. Can't say if the core is harder thou.
