Deer season is just around the corner, what will you be using when you head out? If you are like me and hopeful that a certain load will be it, please list that as well. I think it would be neat to see what everyone else is going to be using this year. Maybe we can follow up later on to see if they performed as well as we planned.

1) Thompson Center Omega - 120 BH209 and 200 gr Shockwave blue mmp

2) Knight Wolverine - 200 gr XTP blue mmp and ~ 90 - 100 gr BH209 haven't shot but it with BH209 but I am expecting it to shoot great.

3) Disc Extreme MHC - Still haven't shot it but I've seen groups that it will shoot with 300 gr Shockwaves and 110 BH209. I'll be using that or the 200 gr Shockwave with blue mmp.

Notice a pattern...I'm really hooked on the 200 gr SST/Shockwave/XTP thing. They shoot flat and recoil is non existant. Plus can readily be substituted for 200 gr xtp for target shooting.

I was drawn for mule buck and doe in my area, but shooting a mule deer around here is like shooting a cow in your garden. I was drawn for cow moose this year, too - time to git'r done!!

Some of those conical loads make me really want to try one. I have a couple places where the deer basically will walk literally right next to me. I'm guessing a 400+ grain conical would make a really big hole

Yes i love the look of wood !!

But i don't have it on right now , i am adding some plastic shims to the sides of the butt stock , so it slides on to my reciever and does not have all the slop . I think TC could do a lot better on thier toleances . I think a butt stock should slip on !! My butt stock is soooo sloppy , it's has way too much left to right play and up and down . I don't see how the allen could hold it in place . When i get done with it , it will almost stay on without the bolt .
