Deer season is just around the corner, what will you be using when you head out? If you are like me and hopeful that a certain load will be it, please list that as well. I think it would be neat to see what everyone else is going to be using this year. Maybe we can follow up later on to see if they performed as well as we planned.

1) Thompson Center Omega - 120 BH209 and 200 gr Shockwave blue mmp,

2) Knight Wolverine - 200 gr XTP blue mmp and ~ 90 - 100 gr BH209 haven't shot but it with BH209 but I am expecting it to shoot great.

3) Disc Extreme MHC - Still haven't shot it but I've seen groups that it will shoot with 300 gr Shockwaves and 110 BH209. I'll be using that or the 200 gr Shockwave with blue mmp.

Well things don't always go according to plan. Due to local availability when I was sighting the Omega, and Disc Extreme I went with something in my range box.

Here is my final hunting loads for the 2008-09 hunting season. :D
1) Thompson Center Omega - 110 BH209 300 SST, Harvestory short black and Fed. 209A

2) Knight Wolverine - 200 gr shockwave blue mmp, 95 gr BH209 and Fed 209A

3) Disc Extreme MHC - 110 BH209 300 SST, Harvestory short black and CCI primer.

I had a bunch of the 300 SST's around for my Savage but ended up using the Barnes Originals. Figured I should use the 300 SST's up. Didnt' know they would shoot that well. All of these shoot great and consistently across temps so far from 20-60 degress. If I miss a deer this year, I don't think I can blame the gun. If all goes according to plan I should have some success stories to post up later this week! 8)

This fall I have decided to use Goex Pinnacle exclusively.

I usually deer hunt with my CVA Stag Horn. Have killed two this fall with the following load:

Gun: CVA .50 Stag Horn
Scope: Weaver Grand Slam 3X10 set on 4X
Bullet: 240 grain .430 XTP
Powder: 110 grains of Goex Pinnacle 2F
Primer: Winchester shotgun 209

On my elk hunt I will use:

Gun: TC Encore .50
Scope: Burris Short Mag 4X
Bullet : 350 grain FPB
Powder: 120 grains of Goex Pinnacle 2F
Primer: Winchester shotgun 209

Hunting season for me is over but i used my CVA .54cal Mountain Rifle with 80gr Pyrodex RS, Two .015 patches and a homecast .530 round ball.

Very good long range elk load!
