Fisheries Technician Bryan Chikotas is shown holding a 43.7 inch gravid female striped bass electrofished just off Delaware County. This was the largest striper electrofished this week. MAY 19

For scientific purposes the length is always the measurement of reference. This is due to the very high correlation of length/age/weight. In this case when the fish is gravid the weight # would only be useful to a small amount of studies pertaing to spawning.
Despite the above facts I would be willing to bet it was weighed and they don't state the #.
The other question is whether the length given is Fork Length,(scientific measurement, or total length,(fishermans measurement).
