Once again gents all I can  is say good things about this ACCURA MR   .
Temp was hanging around 32* and the mist and fog almost made me turn back. It was cold, little wind at my back, heavy over cast, drizzle/snow but a die hard Marine never quits. I opened a couple of hand warmers because my fingers were turning a pretty shade of blue.
I only shot at one target because of the weather conditions. Didn't want to hang more unless I needed to.

As you can see, the target on the top left was shot with PT GOLD 260 GR with Harvester SMOOTH EASY LOAD SABOTS. The target on the right is the same PT Gold this time with Harvester CRUSHED SABOTS.
The lower left target is shot with the "NEW" PARKER Ballistic Extreme 275 grain with the Harvester smooth sabot and the lower right target was shot with my hunting bullet, the "OLD" PARKER BALISTIC EXTREME 275 GRAIN with Harvester Crushed Sabots.
The hardest bullet going down the barrel was the New Parker with the smooth sabot. What I mean by that is, the others used today were easy but the new bullet needed a little more muscle. The only difference that I can see is the new  bullet is a hair shorter then the old and by doing so it's a shade wider. I feel that's why it's tighter.
The rifle, scope, breech plug, powder and primer performed flawlessly. Didn't have any problems at all and the rifle. Never had a miss or a hang because of the damp cold wet weather. Didn't swab the barrel until I was done. Pulled the B/P out twice to remove the carbon.
Now I have a cleaning job to do along with refilling my powder tubs with 78.0 grains of Blackhorn 209 BUT MOSTLY, I've got to get warm.

RAY.......... ;)

Very nice Ray. Did I miss it how many yards? Also what was your shooting rig(lead sled)?

:D

Right now I'm at the 50. I feel it won't take much tweaking when I get to the 100.

Last time I clocked my hunting round, the old Parker B/E 275 I was getting 1986 fps with my 110 grains of Blackhorn 209.

Ray........ ;)

This target was shot with my V2. Hopefully I'll get it again with my new MR

Ray, I'm glad you got to go out today and shoot some, and those are great groups you have there considering the weather. Great shooting there buddy. Aren't you glad I made a switch on the guns.
Carlos

Carlos,
You'll never know glad I am that you made that switch. The rifle is tack driver. There's no doubt about it.

jaybez101099,

I got my set up from Carlos. CALDWELL TACK DRIVER. Big Green bag and the little one for the stock.

Ray......... ;)

Good shooting Ray! So far all of my CVA's have shown a preference for the Harvester smooth sabots, but my Apex won't shoot good with any other sabot.

Nice shooting Ray. I got some of those Parker 275's you recommended to me, now I just need to find the time to go shooting.

John

Nice shooting! Nothing like sighting-in your rifle during the cold to simulate typical hunting conditions. We should all do that...myself included. Unless you live down south, not many hunting seasons fall during the warm weather.

Then again, you're a Marine. ;) Range work for you is probably is a piece of cake under any weather condition when no one is shooting at you.

:D

Thanks gents for all the replies.....I enjoy posting them almost as much as I enjoy the shooting.

inline,

Well you know what they say, "Once a Marine, always a Marine" :!: Your right though, It's always nicer at the range when your not in harms way. My only enemy yesterday was the cold. 8) At the end of 3 hours or so I was cold and the hand warmers just weren't cutting it any more. While in the Corps, I didn't get winter training, just jungle :monkey:

Ray..... ;)

:D

Spitfire,

Africa is hot and humid :!: Nam was like living in a sauna. :sunny: The humidity was as high as the temps. Temps of 98 or 100 or 105 with 95* humidity kept you soaked all the time and the monsoons were yet to come. :affraid:

Ray..........

WOW Ray.....after seeing your targets I'm changing bullets! I'm sure it's the bullets and not the shooter in "my" case.

Ever been in the desert patocazador ?
Been in the Namib, Kalahari, and the Chihuahuan deserts. The Namib and Kalahari were in June so weren't very hot. In fact, it froze at night in the Kalahari. The Chihuahuan was in July and my feet would start to burn if I stood still .. with shoes on.
Eastern Wyoming almost classifies as a desert in my book.

Yeah the desert is a funny place , hot as hell in summer but during winter a fridge at night !
