So after all that wait my guy messed up the breech plug threads - Does Luke sell a 5/8 breech plug metric oversized or do I need to shorten everything for the 9/16 plug? Unreal outcome!

I would check both ASG and Hanks website to see what they offer. They must have had a specific breechplug in mind when they threaded it.

I’m sure 9/16 is preferable but that’s messed up now. I have some room to shorten it but wondering if a 5/8 or something larger than 9/16 can work

Sure that sounds safe - but what center fire rifle is 1.25 for 5” - none. This barrel is 1.200 for 2” then tapers down- PAC-Nor said they made a ton of barrels this profile. seen a lot of 45-70 barrels smaller than 1.2

If the barrel is 1.200 you should be able to use a 5/8" plug. The plug opening should be done with a reamer not a drill bit.

Yes - he bored the .500 minor but not sure why the threads got oversized. A 5/8 plug would help for sure!

Thinking of taking another 1-3/8 off and rethreading the shank and breech. That only leave about 3/4 of the 1.2 diameter in front of the shoulder. I never planned on shooting top end loads but what would be pushing too much on that? My handi rifle 45-70 barrel is a lot smaller than that

So what am I missing here when it says drill the 3/32 cross pin? Hope to shoot this today
