Just saw an ad for this today. Leupold has a new laser rangefinder that not only gives you the range, but also calculates automatically difference in elevation from the shooter to the target for an adjusted range that is corrected for the difference! Now that is pretty slick IMO. Called the RX rangefinder. Here is a link, it is a flash demo, too bad if you have dial up like me but it was all I could find.

Take a look and tell me what you guys think.

Dwight did you happen to see a price any where?I like the concept.

Since it's a Leupold it won't come cheap but it ought to be top notch.

Interesting concept. I think I'd have more issue with wind. The following is a "quickie" chart I put together.

Not fair to knock to Leupold like that...

Looks like they will range in price from 350-400$ which seems like a very reasonable cost to me....

I'm not knocking Leupy, next to Zeiss they are my favorite. I would pay whatever if it's a Leupold and figured the price would be higher than that.

I checked prices on SWFA. They show $500 for the RX IV model, in camo. $480 in black.

Yes...the RX-IV is one of the most expensive models and offers the largest magnification/objective lens of the line....

Even at $500, it is still more than competitive price wise with the Leica 1200. After price, the comparison comes down to performance differences. At least on paper, it seems that the Leupold trumps the Leica in features. I'm not including other makes of RF here, simply because I'm familiar with the Leica.

DW,

I agree...I can ALWAYS find a product for cheaper than it is listed on SWFA...this case is no exception...the product is already available from numerous sources for less than 500$

No argument on their prices being higher than the competition. They were the first place I found listing the new rangefinders and prices. I looked at the Optic Zone, but they don't have them listed yet.

SMIKE,

Whenever checking prices just Google the product...most of the best prices and distributers will be listed right on the top of the page.

After getting an idea from that page simply click on "Froogle" on the top of the page for my choices and options.

jcchartboy--Thanks for the heads-up on google/froogle. I'll give it a shot.

Smike,

No problem...that is my go to source for pricing..after I get a fair idea of pricing from retails then I check ebay...

jcchartboy--
FWIW Just did the Google/Froogle search. For the RX IV, I still come up with the same $480/gray and $500/camo. One place did offer free shipping. YMMV-
Mike

SMike,

Just keep looking around sometimes you need to change your search slightly. In this case for example I would add in "Mossy Oak", as that is the camo pattern.
Here is what I found, (admittedly it is out of stock), but I think this represents the point as far as using the search features go...

What I really wanna know is how far will it actually range a big game animal. 1500 yds on a reflective target is one thing, but on a deer in a field against a backdrop of trees is a whole other ball game. Also I wanna know just how well the vertical compensation works. Would be nice to read a unbiased review.
