Is there a good option for a tang mounted peep for a TC Renegade? I have been doing some searching online but I’m coming up empty . Something specific I should be looking for?
They do make different inserts. 4 hole sizes .05" to .150" (.093 is std i think) and i believe they have 3 OD sizes from 3/8" to 1". Also a twilight aperture that has a brass ring in it, supposed to help gather light. The Williams sight mentioned above is the same one I have. I am happy with it for hunting but the hole could be a bit smaller for targets. I think they should make the whole insert of the peep in several different sizes and make the whole insert bigger.
Lee Shaver- He has a Rear Target Site “Economy” model for $260
What are you planning to use it for? Hunting 100 yards and in or longer distance.
Nice thing about the ladder sights, Fold down out the way for using the open sites- if you want to set it up that way
I like the idea of having both the peep and irons. Use the peep for longer shots in good daylight and switch to irons for closer low light hunting.Ive got the Hunter T/C peep I’ll put on my Flintlock or Big Bore…and then This Tc. This is nice- small and effective. Still can use the open sights on my .45 and then pop this up if need to reach out there.
I may up grade this .45 to the Lee Shaver.
I have a couple Lyman and one Williams. Williams is the better sight. If you raises the Lyman up above halfway they get loose, had to knurle mine.
How does one know which size aperture is needed? They do make different inserts. 4 hole sizes .05" to .150" (.093 is std i think) and i believe they have 3 OD sizes from 3/8" to 1". Also a twilight aperture that has a brass ring in it, supposed to help gather light.

They're inexpensive so you could buy a few and try them out. Generally a larger hole and smaller o.d. is better for hunting while smaller hole and bigger o.d. is better for targets. But each person sees differently so some trials may be necessary. How does one know which size aperture is needed?
