That tube is a neat idea Falcon , nearly same as a loading block only much smaller.
 
I wonder if I could do the same for rendezvous but make it out of wood? I like that much better than a ball block that leaves the balls/patches all exposed.

Don't see why not. Saw a few wooden ones like that at muzzleloder shoots in Southern MD, VA and PA in the 60s-70s. Saw one made from elderberry (not alder). Elderberry has a big pith that is easily removed.
 
Or you could bore the hole large enough to glue the PVC pipe in for durability. That way if the wood cracked it would still be tight enough to hold your balls.

Talked to the seller of my Hawken today and he said it would ship by Fri. Could be a great Christmas :)
