I dont know how Im going to thank you. I think its perfect. Cant wait.

Snapbang is a delighted camper.
You probably already said and I.missed, but what are you planning to shoot these out of? Hopefully 1:28 twist or slower. That’s a pretty short bullet. If faster than 1: 28, you may have to knock the powder back some. Got all the holes tapped, hopefully make the sprue plate tomorrow and hopefully cast a few in the next day or so. I hope they turn out good. You never know until you put the lead in.....

The bullet is for my wolf. As I sit here grinning from ear to ear Ill be looking for suggestions on initial powder loads. I have 200 wads I bought in anticipation of this bullet. Ill be using T7 in my initial loading. My Wolf has not been fussy about conical or sabots I shoot. All have been better than reasonably accurate with a variety of powder measures. All from T7.

I will be swabbing a spit patch between loads. Thats the way I like to do it. Not interested in pushing it down a fouled barrel. Once we get the accuracy I need then I may try a second shot on a fouled barrel just to know what happens in case I need to.

If after I try some loads I cant get an accurate enough load then Ill ask for changes from all of you and try again. As stated this gun is not fussy. Not anticipating any problems. But if needed Ill go to another powder and try that. We, yep, we will make this work just fine.

I will not let sdporter down.

So lets get started. By Volume.
1. Suggest starting load for T7.
2. Suggest incremental increase in loads of T7.
3. Max load of T7.

Wads are Premium Lube wads. Eastern Maine Shooting Supply. (that's whats on the package)
Primers are Winchester 209
The primer pocket has shims to achieve a crush fit on the primer.
T7 powder (Loose)

I would suggest, since you're shooting T7, that you switch to the ML version of the 209 primer instead of the hot shotgun version. It should (supposed to) help cut down on the crud build up.
As for loads, I usually start at 50grV (sometimes I'll start at 60grV) and move up 5 grains at a time after a couple 3 shot groups.
150grV max load but many say 120grV max. I've never gone over 100 myself

Ill start with 60 grains(v) and do 3 shot groups. Moving up 5 Grains at a time. For modern rifle I move up in single grains. Is there a chance that 2 1/2 grain steps could prove helpful.

I’d say go 5 grain increments and once you find the best, then maybe go 2.5 up and 2.5 down from that if you want to fine tune. Big steps to get in the ballpark and then little steps to get perfect!! Been an interesting project to follow.

Almost done! Gotta build the hollow point pin and retainer. Any input from guys using a hollow point mold would be appreciated. I see pics of them with a wooden handle/knob, how does that work exactly? My plan is to attach the pin to the axle bolt of my handles (I’ve done this for hollow base bullets) and make a small retaining bracket attached to one side of the mold, that will hold the pin at “x” depth, for consistency.

Off to get the boat from getting ready for summer, one screw for the pin retainer clip, and some brake parts cleaner. Hopefully cast a few tonight. I’ll video once/if I get good bullets:D
