Yes, after leakage, everything was changed.
I think a lot of folks on these threads put way too much energy into the "powder" issue. I think regardless of powder, a lot of hunters should spend more time trying to get closer to their quarry, just for starters. And Triple Seven has worked just fine for over the years. Smokeless powder? Might as well just give up muzzle loader hunting and just hunt regular gun season! With the price of Blackhorn going stupid high, This smokeless conversion makes sense to me. I'll get a Brux barrel from the factory, it's only 2.5 hour drive from home and have a local gunsmith put it together. He knows how. Is my Arrowhead breech plug and gen 2 module system OK for smokeless?
Yes, smokeless powder! This .... IS .... the smokeless section of the site. If you're not a smokeless shooter or at least interested in it, there's another part of the site that will likely be more interesting to you. Sidelock/Traditional Muzzleloading.................... Smokeless powder? Might as well just give up muzzle loader hunting and just hunt regular gun season!
And I think you should take a minute and take into account the type of shooting we're talking about here. 300 yards and out. There is a section on this forum for guys like you. You sir are out of place.I think a lot of folks on these threads put way too much energy into the "powder" issue. Why did you tag me in your post and then not respond to my post?Headspace wasn’t loose. If you would read the thread I specifically say this happened with smokeless powder only. Did not happen with Blackhorn209. Nothing misleading. I called Luke, which I think is you and told you about the leakage and you had no answer. I replaced your bolt head with mine, still same problem. I then switched to Hankins with another new bolt head and no more problem and it’s been that way for all the Paramount conversions since.
And furthermore....no one needs another self appointed arbiter on what everyone "needs to do" on this forum or anywhere else for that matter. Who do you people think you are dictating policy unsolicited. That's the problem with ether based media...it's made badasses out of chicken *****. Keyboard commandos....I think a lot of folks on these threads put way too much energy into the "powder" issue. Why would you go cheap (cheep?) on the most important part of the gun, the barrel?Whats the absolute lowest price to convert a paramount? Without extras like scope or rings etc. Just the machining of the bolt/barrel, hanks ignition, and a cheep stainless barrell.
Like the "Nitrofire" half-muzzleloader/half-breechloader...I have all kinds of smokeless guns cept they all load from the breech
I'm around $1200 for a Brux barrel, recoil lug, breech plug and bolt nose. All my breech and bolt parts are 17-4 stainless so they wont be rusting or corroding like the steel or 416
bullshitI’ve converted quite a few Paramounts to smokeless. My first three I used the Arrowhead breech plug. They all leaked and a 300 grain Pittman pushed by 72 grains of H4198 disintegrated my primer. I changed those three guns to Hankins ignitions and all the ones I built since are Hankins. No excess pressure, no blown primers and that includes a 300 grain Pittman pushed by 78 grains of H4198.
