Wow that's a sharp lookin SML. How much is in that? Scope?
This is a customized rifle they'll be testing with the brake. C&H Precision Weapons in Georgia makes the brake. It requires a funnel and a longer ramrod. Manners stock with the Gen II integral B block and bottom metal. It’s glassed into the stock so it doesn’t come out.

It is not a SML.

Its only a customized Paramount.
The rifle was customized by the owners that created the brake. They will be testing the brake, along with different charge weights of BH209.
I do not know the specifics of the rifle other than has been reported.

Outstanding post bud, Thank you for all the great info you post to help us all keep up with this ever-growing, ever-amazing levels of muzzleloading we all love. Kind regards

Those Stocks make that rifle look SOOO much better!
Other than the Variflame my only dislikes are the color of the CereKote and the weight. But they are moving in the right direction!:thumb:

Don't really see why they want to Cerekote over the Nitride, other than trying to make it match the Camo stock. I think it would look better with the Black of the Nitride.

Did anyone else notice the difference in stocks on the .45 cal stock and the .50 cal Paramount Pro's?

I'll put them right on top of each other, so it's easy to see.

That 50 cal should be a good conical shooter, if it indeed has a faster 1:22 twist. I've got a feeling that they just used the .45 cal template, and have some changes to make. They also mentioned the 280 gr PowerBelt Paramount ELR too, but I don't think that's going to work in the .50 cal. It would be nice to see them make a 400ish+ gr Paramount ELR ballistic missile for Colorado, and elsewhere.

If shortening the bolt will keep it from flipping open, than all is good. I had an old Mauser back in the day that kept opening on me while walking, and I just took a heavy duty rubber band and wrapped it around the trigger guard and the bolt. It keeps it closed, and still allows you to jack another round in without removing it. My rifles now won't open with the safety on. Handy as pockets on a shirt.

Does anyone really carry a rifle as shown in those photos? Seems like a surfire way to ding your crown on a rock. I have enough trouble with my Safari sling.

Hello and Happy New Years. Well I finally got around to doing some test with my Paramount. I ran it through a Caldwell Chrono with both the Variflame and 209 primers. I video'd the test and posted on youtube. First time uploading a video on youtube so please go easy on me. My main purpose was to see any difference in the two breech plugs and to see if they both leaked. Hope this test will be of some help to someone. I've received so much helpful information through this forum and just hope I can in some way Pay-It-Forward.

Ron,

Good information. What brand and model 209 primer were you using? Were you using Standard Large Rifle Primers like CVA recommends, or Large Rifle Magnum Primers? Brand and model of LRP's?

Sorry, I went back and edited my last post. Other primer information?

Thanks!

My take on the VariFlame, is that they might work well at first when new, then after a few loadings, some can start to leak.

I'll have to go back when I have time and see if I can find an old thread when I had some CCI 209M primers bulge in me with some heavy Blackhorn 209 loads. This was back 11 or 12 years ago, when Blackhorn 209 was fairly new. I've also had Winchester W209 bulge and split in those POS NEF primer carriers with heavy conical loads and Triple Se7en. My memory is not as good as it was then, so I'll need to find it, but the Federal 209A worked for both of those applications.
