It is wrong twist

If you look at the 405Win barrel most if not all are faster than 1-16. 300gr bullet at 2200fps. 400gr bullet at 1900fps. I can only guess the 40cal PB ELR is going to be much lighter. Pretty sure the 250gr Fury will stabilize. I would really prefer if at least a 275gr did also.

I believe the McGowen Barrel on my 40 caliber smokeless is 1-13 or 1-14

It’s stabilized everything from 195 grainBarnes up through 300 Grain Barnes

Of course that was smokeless with more velocity as well but 40 caliber is an amazing caliber and you’ll be impressed by what it will do

found these after googling accura mr-x. Looks like maybe a 45 will be coming as well as a pr-x by looking at the page for variflame adapter plug. May have more options besides just the 40 cal mr-x.
Would be nice with a faster twist, and I’m guessing the 45 will be a 1-22 like the paramount instead of a 1-18 or 1-20.

I seen this today on Facebook...I am
Not much of a cva fan but I’d be Curious to see how they get this kind of velocity. Maybe a .40 version of the paramount as well?

And the page is gone again. I knew it would be so luckily i took screen shots of it the day i posted the link. This company did the same thing when the Paramount came out.

You think they were overwhelmed with questions?,, Perhaps cva asked them to wait until after the shot show, but I think it's odd that the first time the rifles offered it's in a rifle/scope package with a konus rifle scope.surely the first marketing would be just the rifle itself before it comes in a package again I'm not sure if that's CVAs idea or muzzleloader.com

Im just not sure the 1-20 is gunna work that well for a 40cal. Doc White used 1-16 for lead and all the builders are using 1-11 to 1-16. I want to shoot lead conicals and upto a jacketed 300gr 40cal. If most 405Wins are 1-15 or faster and the most common load is a 300gr@2200ish fps its hard to argue with that.

Kinda makes me think the 40cal PB they will offer for it is lighter/shorter.

I would imagine they built the bore of that rifle around the bullet just like they did the paramount,,so that those that buy the gun will only shoot their bullets of course there's always ways around that isn't there. And I'm sure that 20 twist they think is optimal for their particular bullet

I think you're correct. I saw the 2850FPS and came here to see if anything was being discussed. My initial guess was 40cal with lighter bullet to get to that speed unless they're releasing a new propellant too. I've gone to 2900 FPS with bh209 and a 310gr bullet in an overbuilt 45cal with a 28" barrel. But even with a good brake, it's not pleasant and takes A LOT of powder!

1-20 isn't exactly a slow twist , I bet you would be surprised at the range of bullets that can be used.

Probably works fine with lower BC bullets up to around 225-250gr. Start getting into pointier stuff like my XLD line, most likely will not work.

Considering CVA's bent for oversized bores, my guess it's supposed to be a Cheytac but ends up in between a Cheytac and a 405Win.

I think they can easily do the 250gr@2300fps and with just 120gr of BH209 by volume in the 40cal but that weight or lighter [email protected] is not likely. Fury/ASG/Pittman 275s or more i can see getting there but im not convinced the 1-20 is gunna cut the mustard for those.

Still if you are getting a 250gr 40 moving over 2300fps, you are spanking MLII book load data when you figure in the better BC and sectional density vs shooting a 50x45cal sabot load.

I get 1600fps with a 420gr cast conical (BC 0.5) with just 52grW (75V) of BH209 out of my Knight 40 1:16. Bare primer set up.
Not sure I’d believe CVA BC 0.36 as they haven’t announced either of their 45 or 50 ELR bullets accurately yet. Probably 200gr or less.
With the smaller bore - the pressures are noticeably more as evidence on primers..
