First off Kudos to you for even going out in that weather to shoot. I’m sure 99.9% of wouldn’t have even thought of doing that. 😄. I would repeat that testing again at the same range session when the weather becomes more favorable when you can shoot both softer and harder Bullets.

Normally i would agree. But im so bored now i would go out in a 🌪 if my wife said ok and the range were open

Headed out to shoot it now. I sized 10 for my White 1:24 twist. 10 for my TC Renegade 1:48 twist. My load is gonna be Lew’s go to load. 80 weight grains Swiss. We shall see how they do..The ones I’m shooting are cast from sheet lead, no tin added. This will be the first time I’ve ever pulled the trigger on Swiss and the first time I’ve pulled the trigger on real black in about 36 years....

So here is how they shot. Not good....
The low shot was first shot, squeaky clean bore, Teflon tape X over bottom of bullet, next three upper right bull, did not clean or use a wad. This was my White and the bullets were too small. I should have sized to .507. I sized to .505. The weight of the ramrod alone would push them down....All shots on the following targets were 80 gns weight Swiss 2f. Shooting at dead center of Target. White is 1:24 twist, used the next three targets

Next target. Shot with 1:48 twist TC Renegade 1x scope all targets were at 100 yards. Did not swab between shots or use wad. Renegade was in the black. The lower three were aiming at my highest bullet strike with my friends 1:28 Winchester. No swabbing, no Wad. His rifle is sighted for 290 grain Barnes and 100 gns volume Pyrodex select, so we figured they would be low. Bullet to bore fit on both rifles was good. Not too tight. Medium pressure to seat about 10 lbs I would guess.

Somethings going on here . A little hard ?? Needs more powder to swell them up , something......bigger wad wouldnt hurt . They look too good to be acting like this . Better fit is needed too . Lube ?? Stacy dont give up on them !!! This is a process for sure . :thumb: Little things can change the whole show . I love that you have stepped up to Even Try This !!! Thats Very cool and it aint easy either !!! I think youre close......I see a common denominator going on here with those targets pretty much the same . I did ALOT of tinkering and thinkin to get Mighty Whitey shooting like it does !!! Youll get this !!! :thumb:
One thing that Really helped me was a Stabilized Bore Condition for Every shot , ...."CLEAN" . That removed that variable .......

Looking at this target, I bet the first shot was the one on the lower right up about an inch on the box. 2nd shot in the tape. The shot in the tape was the first one we saw from the bench. Gun was clean and dry on the first shot. His next group was after my three shot Renegade group at the black 6” circle. That landed left. He cleaned the gun and shot the last bullet from a dry, clean bore, and I bet it’s the one that hit just under the lowest shot on the box. (Orange Target). We’ll have to try it again with his rifle swabbing between shots, and with my White with the bullets sized a touch larger and 75 grains powder.

This group is just under 1-1/2”. Wind was blowing the entire time about 5-10 mph from our backs toward the target angling mostly a little right judging from the dust generated by bullet impact.

Got 20 more ready to go. Gotta go do a little work on a houseboat then hopefully I’ll have time to go out. I sized 10 of them to .4995, gonna shoot em out of the Accura 1:28 30” bbl. The other 10 I sized to .5075 for the White 1:24 twist. Haven’t measured the barrel length but it’s a stock Super 91 at .5075 the bullets go in, but are pretty snug.
For the Accura I weighed out 3 charges at 90 grains. Will shoot each of these on a clean bore with a wad.
The next 7 are weighed out at 85 grains. I will follow the last shot of the 90 grain group without cleaning and shoot 3. Then I will clean the rifle and shoot the next 3 cleaning between shots. The last shot I will shoot without cleaning just to see where it lands.
For the White I have six loads at 80 grains 4 at 75 grains. The first 3 shot will be clean bore for each shot with a wad. After the third shot, I will shoot 3 on a dirty bore with a wad. Depending on which group is the best, the clean between shot group, or the dirty bore group, will determine how the last 4 at 75 grains are shot. 3 will be shot the same as the beat group with 80 grains, the other the same as the worse 80 grain group. There again just to see where it lands.
If I’m hunting and need a second shot, I don’t want to mess with swabbing and a wad, so having an idea of where that follow up shot is going to hit, is pretty important.
We’ll see what we get. Hopefully have some GOOD targets to post this evening.

It’s same conditions as last evening. Wind 5-10. Hopefully don’t make much difference....

That 1:24 is on the Fast side for this 395 Grain Bullet, I feel it’s right on the edge for 1:28, I am FULLY CONFIDENT that Bullet will Shoot GOOD in my Gun, it didn’t do bad the Only outing i had with it, I feel it would have done better Cast of Pure Soft Lead. I SWEAR by an Alloy, But ONLY with Certain Bullets (Long, Target Type). I feel These Short, Wider Nosed Hunting Type Bullets are better off Cast of Pure Lead, especially when pushed at Real Blackpowder Velocities.

First target 80 weight gns Swiss, clean between each shot, over powder wad. All billets are cast of Sheet lead and weigh within 0.3 grains of each other. 1:24 White. Wind on all targets was at my back blowing slight left to right about 10 mph. I knew this load hit high is why the target is upside down...
